Guidance
Need some suggestions about where to look for rehearsal space or where to find funds to print your next issue?
Need ideas for exhibition spaces or collaborators? Or maybe you're looking to start a new organization or plan
a new event. Arts at Michigan staff would love to meet with you and help you figure things out. Email us to let
us know how we can help.
Recognition
Started in 2014, the Accolades Achievement in the Arts Awards were designed to foster the artistic growth of the
student body at the University of Michigan by recognizing the accomplishments of the many extraordinary student
arts groups on campus. With awards for student orgs in music, theatre, dance, comedy, literary publication design
and more, the Accolades help give recognition to the great contributions student arts orgs make to the campus arts community.
Opportunities
Arts at Michigan occasionally has events where we hire student groups to perform, like Artscapade.
Keeping your information current is important so you'll be included in the groups we reach out to for
these opportunities. We also feature student org events on our Passport to the Arts vouchers.
If you are interested in having your event featured, email us a month or so before your event to
let us know you'd be interested. We can't include every event that gets proposed, but we'd love to
get some information to see if your event would be a good fit.
Press
Arts at Michigan has a couple blogs that can feature stories about your work. Our
[art]seen blog features student-written reviews of arts events
like concerts, plays, and exhibitions. Campus Creatives features
student arts organizations at the Michigan in our weekly ArtsInfo email. If you are interested in
having your organization featured, let us know!
Funding
Student Organizations and individuals who are engaging in arts programming can apply for project-based funding
through the Arts at Michigan Student Mini-Grant program. Offering up to $1000 per project, these grants are
specifically designed to support either singular arts projects and initiatives, or to launch new ongoing
programs. In the past Student Mini-Grants have supported everything from student-written theatre productions,
literary magazines, exhibits, multimedia performances, short films and graphic novels. On average, 50 different
arts projects are supported each year. Applications are submitted online and four application deadlines are
scheduled through the academic year. Visit our Student Mini-Grants page for info!
