I am proud to be in my thirteenth year at Arts at Michigan, and in my seventh as Program Director. My work with Arts at Michigan has offered great opportunities for me to support students in experiencing, understanding, and creating art. I want to give all Michigan students the opportunity to have transformative experiences with the arts, and I stand proudly behind Arts at Michigan's philosophy 'that the arts are essential to shaping our individual and collective identities and understanding what it means to be a citizen of a diverse multi-cultural society.'
I earned my BFA from University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign, and my MFA from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, both in Painting. I helped coordinate programs and exhibitions at Pratt Institute and The Cooper Union in New York, and at Manchester Craftsmen’s Guild in Pittsburgh. As an artist, curator and arts professional, the arts have been a driving force in my career, and I’m really excited to be working in a position that gives me new opportunities each day to share that passion. I love going to all sorts of arts events with my wife and sons, seeing offbeat films and theatre productions, and exhibitions. In Summer 2021, I founded Creal Microgallery, a breadbox-sized exhibition space in my front yard. I have a unique fondness for music from 1993-1994, a love of tacos, French food, pizza, and all types of cheese. And I’m a devoted New York Yankees fan.
